  • League: Themed Competition Results `Panorama’ – March 2018

    The sixth internal club competition of the 2017-18 season took place last Wednesday, 21 March 2018. The set subject, for both prints and projected digital images (PDIs), was “Panoramic”

  • League: Open 3 Competition Results – February 2018

    The fifth internal club competition of the 2017-18 season took place on Wednesday 21 February. This was an “open” competition for both prints and projected digital images (PDIs).

  • League: Themed Competition Results `Night’ – January 2018

    The fourth internal club competition of the 2017-18 season took place on Wednesday 24 January.  The set subject was “Night” to which the programme notes added merely – “Images taken during the hours of darkness.”  The competition was judged by Martin Patten LRPS BPE1, a professional photographer, member of Watford Camera Club, and a previous visitor to LBPC.  He suggested that, to fit the brief, an image had to be “the sort of thing that you would expect to find in a book on night photography”.  Each entry was marked out of twenty.  The top performers in each section were [...]

  • League: Open 2 Competition Results – November 2017

    The third internal club competition of the 2017-18 season took place on Wednesday 22 November.  This was an “open” competition for both prints and projected digital images (PDIs).  As usual, the entries displayed a wide variety of subjects, approaches and styles – covering landscape, architecture, portraiture, candid/street, travel, wildlife, flowers, trains, monochrome, abstract and much more. Our judge for this competition was Dave Hipperson.  Dave has been a keen photographer for over 40 years and a CACC (Chilterns Association of Camera Clubs) judge for over five years.  He is a member of the Park Street Camera Club in St Albans.   • League: Themed Competition Results `Abandonment’ – October 2018

    The second internal club competition of the 2017-18 season took place on Wednesday 18 October.  The set subject was “Abandonment” to which the programme notes added – “Images evoking an emotion of abandonment, or showing abandonment in a physical form eg unoccupied buildings, empty rooms, discarded items just left behind, old photos gathering dust.  One to tax your imagination.”  The competition was judged by Cathal Gantly who, faced with lots of monochrome images, fortunately confessed to being “a big fan of mono”.  Each entry was marked out of twenty.  The top performers in each section were as follows: Section Two [...]

Print and PDI of the Year Competition Results – June 2018

As the climax to the 2017-18 season, our annual Print and Digital Image of the Year competitions took place on Wednesday evening (6 June 2018). This year the two competitions were judged by Kathy Chantler ARPS (Secretary of the ImageZ Camera Club at Weston Turville). After completing the judging, Kathy said she had found it “really hard” and praised the high standard of the entries.

Biennial Landscape Trophy Competition Results – 2017/18

Last Wednesday evening (16 May 2018) members contested the Landscape Trophy. This is a biennial competition, sponsored by Barbara Fleming, to encourage more landscape work. It alternates with our other biennial competition, the Howard Morris Memorial Trophy for monochrome prints.

Portfolio Competition Results – April 2018

The annual LBPC Portfolio Competition took place on Wednesday 18 April 2018. Entries for this competition consist of 3-5 prints or digital images to be judged as a panel. This year the competition was judged by Kathy Chantler ARPS (Secretary of the ImageZ Camera Club at Weston Turville).

PDI Knockout Competition Results – April 2018

The annual LBPC Digital Image Knock Out Contest took place last Wednesday (11 April 2018). This is a sophisticated competition in which digital images (anonymously and randomly selected) are projected in pairs and one of each pair is chosen by the assembled club members, to go through to the next round. Or, as the Programme put it, “Our usual unfair knockout competition, the last man standing is the winner.

Audio Visual Competition Results

Felicity Bickley Audio-Visual Challenge – April 2018

Last Wednesday (4 April 2018) LBPC hosted the annual Felicity Bickley Audio Visual Challenge for the Felicity Bickley Trophy. This is an annual inter-club competition for projected Audio-Visual (AV) sequences. Each club may enter two AVs (each with a maximum run time of 10 minutes).

Audio Visual Competition – March 2018

The annual LBPC competition for Audio-Visual presentations – the AV Competition – took place on Wednesday 14 March 2018. This is an internal competition and the subject is “open”. The rules (and “How to enter”) are set out in the LBPC Handbook 2017-18 on the Programme page of the club website. This year the competition was judged by the hugely experienced photographer and AV-exponent Les Spitz ARPS APAGB from Pinner Camera Club.
