LBPC battles in friendly competition and rivalry with other local CACC (Chilterns Association of Camera Clubs) Clubs.

These include the: ImageZ Print Exhibition; XRR Visions; Bedfordshire Invitation inter-club competition and the Central Club Challenge. In addition, we also compete annually with our twined club Camberwell Camera Club in Melbourne, Australia.

Below is a summary of these competitions including the current season’s schedule.

For individual competitions, Members enter personally (i.e. not as part of a club portfolio). You may submit your entries directly to the host club co-ordinator by the deadline or in some cases bringing them to LBPC by the LBPC deadline for onward transfer. The entry deadline is shown in bold.

Entries for club competitions will be selected and submitted by the LBPC competition coordinators. All club members are welcome to attend the judging night.

External PDI Competitions

One of our main external competitions is the CACC Rosebowl. This is a projected image (PDI) competition organised by the Chilterns Association of Camera Clubs (CACC). We enter as a club with images selected by the committee.

The competition takes place in a league style with 3 rounds held at host clubs. The league is organised into random groups of 3 or 4 clubs, so that each club competes against different clubs in each round. The top 12 clubs from the league stage are invited to the Rosebowl Final, which takes place on the CACC Big Day in April.

The Jubilee Trophy consists of three rotating competitions that cover Prints, Projected Digital Images and Audio-Visuals. Two of the three mediums are held each season. The winner of each competition holds the Jubilee Trophy until the next competition (about 4-8 months).

Being at the northern end of the Chilterns association of Camera Clubs, NCPS and LBPC want to open these competitions to other clubs in the extremities of the adjoining Federations (East Anglia Federation and Midland Counties Photographic Federation) to promote a wider experience for club members than is offered by internal competitions, but maintaining a local camaraderie that would be lost in the national competitions and salons.

It is held annually between the last week of October and the first two weeks of November, on a day to suit the host Club (each Club hosts in turn).

Competing clubs enter a set of between six and nine images (depending on how many clubs are taking part), plus a tie-breaker image which is only used in the event of a tie.

Two trophies are competed for annually, for the winning and the runner-up Clubs. In addition, the ‘Grievson Shield’ is awarded for the best image of the Competition.

Previously Aylesbury Camera Club has organised the Photo Images exhibition. Unfortunately, the closure of the club early in 2015 meant the old exhibition is no longer happening. ImageZ has worked with the CACC to deliver Chiltern ImageZ since 2015.
